WALLED LAKE, Mich. - A Walled Lake father feels helpless as his daughter remains trapped on Easter Island in the wake of Chile's devastating earthquake.

Mike Schlussel tells FOX 2's Robin Schwartz his 40-year-old daughter Cindy is stuck on the island some 2,300 miles off Chile's west coast with a travel group of nearly 50 people.

"She's okay," said Schlussel. "They're staying in a hotel and the hotel has plenty of water and food. But as of right now, there's no immediate plan for evacuation which I don't understand."

That's about all Schlussel knows about his daughter's whereabouts, and that's due to the status updates and posts on her Facebook page . One reads:

"Have never been so scared in my life. Awoken at 6 a.m. by frantic pounding on the door and somone screaming, "Earthquake, tsunami, evacuate!""

Schlussel says airports in the area where his daughter is are damaged and there is no immediate word on when the group will be able to leave the island.
