SAGINAW, Mich. (WJBK) - A Shrine Circus motorcycle stunt man says he’ll get back on his bike when he recovers from a 25-foot plunge at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw.
Josh Headford revved into a jump but hit a cable in mid-air and crashed to the floor, striking a clown in the ring below.
Said one circus-goer, ”He went up the ramp and it looked like he was gonna do a flip or something but he kept straight up and hit a wire and got hooked up in the wire and came straight down and hit a clown also on the way down.”
Headford said he has a broken leg, wrist, elbow and shoulder.
Speaking to the Associated Press before surgery Monday, the 20-year-old from the Upper Peninsula said someone failed to lower or remove the cable before the ride.
Headford plans to resume his daredevil stunts. “It’s all I do,” he said.
A YouTube video of the incident (below) shows the crowd was told to leave the building. Near the end of the video, the ringmaster can be heard saying, “I need a doctor immediately. This is not part of the performance.”
Please note: Although no one was seriously injured, the video may still be inappropriate for younger viewers.
