ECORSE, Mich. (WJBK) -- The property has seen better days. The house is in disrepair, the fence is broken and there's an open garage and several vehicles parked in the yard.
"It's just an eyesore to the neighborhood," one neighbor told FOX 2.
It's located on 14th Street in Ecorse. Several residents called to complain about it. Many expressed concerns about the open garage and kids going back and forth to a nearby school.
"It's so dangerous. Somebody could snatch one, maybe rape them, molest them, even [kill] them. It's just dangerous, and I want to see some action be taken," the neighbor told us.
The property appears to be unoccupied, but neighbors said there is often a lot of activity.
Neighbors heard the property is owned by a Stacey Wheeler. There is a Stacy Wheeler on the Ecorse City Council, but she does not own the property. It's actually owned by her brother-in-law. While they have the same first name, his is spelled with an "e".
He has said he plans to rehabilitate the property and he removed the garage door when it collapsed.
We made an inquiry with the emergency manager that runs Ecorse and are awaiting a response.
Meanwhile, the neighbor said she has gotten no help from city hall.
"I called last week and someone said they [were] going to get back with me," she explained. "[So far], nothing."
Fox 2 is looking for some good ideas on how to redefine Detroit. Have one?
