No Charges in Shooting of Teen by 9-Year-Old Boy in Detroit

DETROIT (AP) -- No charges will be filed against a 9-year-old Detroit boy who shot and wounded a 15-year-old boy outside his home over the weekend.
Police said in a release Tuesday afternoon that the younger boy found the loaded handgun while playing in his yard and it "accidentally discharged" while he played with it Saturday on his porch.
The victim was walking nearby when he was shot. He was treated at a hospital and released.
Police say the 9-year-old was in the care of his 16-year-old sister while their mother was out of the home on an errand.
Investigators had received conflicting information, but were able Tuesday to corroborate the younger boy's story with that of witnesses.
The younger boy's mother also won't be charged.
