NORTHVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -- A 25-year-old is killed during a night on the town. His friends were just a few feet away when a vehicle smashed right into him and kept going. Now, more than a month later, that driver is still hiding from the law.
"I know it was a mistake. It wasn't intentional," said Elizabeth Warren. "I know that you're at home and you are mortified and you're terrified … Just please come forward, and if you can't, this will weight heavy on your soul for the rest of your days."
The close friend of the victim is begging the driver who hit Josh Green on December third at Griswold and Main in Northville to listen to his or her conscience.
Green's family is joining with Crime Stoppers and asking the person or someone who knows that person responsible to step forward.
"We had a Christmas without my brother. We had shared New Year's without my brother," said Jonathan Green. "It's hard to describe sitting down with your family and knowing that you're not whole, knowing that it's not complete."
It's an investigation that detectives in Northville say won't be completed either until the driver of a dark colored Honda CRV steps forward.
Green's mother hopes the driver hears her message.
"As I mother, I hope and pray that you would let your conscience lead you into doing the right thing," said Shirley Green.
Josh and his friends were walking along the side of the road when he was hit. The friends remember seeing a dark colored SUV. Northville Police saying it was definitely a Honda CRV, that according to some of the surveillance tapes they've seen. They're checking almost each and every one in the area to find the person responsible.
"We have put out 'be on the lookouts' through all the repair and collision shops in the area, as well as all the dealerships," Northville Police Detective Matthew Clemence explained.
"Just come forward and let us know what you have seen or where this car is," Shirley Green said.
If you know anybody that has a dark colored Honda CRV with extreme front end damage or someone who had to get that fixed, pick up the phone and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You don't have to leave your name and there is a cash reward.
