(myFOXDetroit.com Staff Reports) - Supporters of Kwame Kilpatrick plan a prayer rally on the imprisoned ex-Detroit mayor's 40th birthday.
Details of the event are posted on the Kilpatrick supporter Web site, www.friendsofkwame.com . The Rev. Jim Holley of Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church tells the Detroit Free Press the National Prayer Rally will feature appearances by the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Holley says the event was organized in part by Kilpatrick's mother, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick.
The pastor says the Detroit congresswoman asked his church to host Tuesday's event.
A judge in May sent Kilpatrick to prison for at least 14 months for violating probation in his 2008 obstruction of justice conviction.
Holley says the Detroit event is open to the public and runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
