Sunday Dinner Company Nourishing Detroit, One Fantastic Plate After Another

(DETROIT) - Chef Eric Giles practices what he preaches.

He's the co-owner of the Sunday Dinner Company on East Jefferson. The Detroit restaurant has made a name for itself because of the iconic Southern cuisine it so brilliantly serves up night after night.

But the restaurant has another distinction, one that Giles and his business partner, David Theriault, feel is more important than the food.

The Sunday Dinner Company provides hope and optimism - in the form of a second chance - for people whose lives have been damaged by crime and poverty.

Giles and Theriault mentor and teach marketing skills to at-risk youth, as well as released prisoners referred by Goodwill Industries' "Flip the Script" program.

The dining room and kitchen are staffed with workers from the program, and patrons say it'd be impossible to find better food and service anywhere else.
