DETROIT, Mich. - Young Detroit singers from The Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences choir transformed the popular Jay-Z and Alicia Keys song, "Empire State of Mind" into a tribute to the Motor City.
Wayne State University's program honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as they featured the choir at Detroit's Orchestra Symphony Hall. The students were challenged to create their very own Detroit-laced lyrics to the tune of "Empire State of Mind" as a writing assignment from their choir director.
