SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- The Lake Orion community is coming together after a rash of suicides over the past few years. Another Lake Orion teen just attempted to take his life.
There have been nine suicides in the school district over the past four years. Some in the community are calling it an epidemic that needs to be stopped.
FOX 2's Roop Raj talked to a local therapist, who offered this advice: Listen to your kids and key in on clues.
"Saying I don't feel loved or I hate you, you hate me, and running off. I would take all of that very seriously. Not in they have to run off necessarily and seek therapy, but that there is a connection that your child is trying to make and they don't even know what that is, so be that for them," said therapist Wendy Taggart.
There will be a meeting on Wednesday addressing suicide concerns at the Lake Orion Board Building at 1:00 p.m. Anyone is invited to attend.
