myFOXDetroit.com - With the weather turning colder in Southeast Michigan there are several Walk For Warmth events being planned so you can do your part to help those in need.
In Oakland and Livingston counties, the Walk for Warmth walk-a-thon will be held February 11th at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. Event day registration begins at 8:00am at Bass Pro Shops. Participants can Pre-Register by January 27th, 2012 online or by form in order to secure a t-shirt.
The goal is to raise $180,000. 100% of all proceeds benefit those facing heating emergencies.
In Macomb County, the Walk for Warmth event will be held February 25th, 2012. The walk starts and ends at the Clinton Township Senior Adult Life Center, 40730 Romeo Plank Road, Clinton Township. Registration begins at 9:00am and includes a 5K walk and fun run which begins at 10:00am. There is a minimum pledge of $20 per participant. The MCCSA's Walk for Warmth raises funds to help Macomb County residents with home heating emergencies.
In Wayne County, The 16th Annual Walk for Warmth will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012. The event will be held from 9:00am-12:00pm at Westland Shopping Center, 35000 W. Warren in Westland. 100% of funds raised go to support families in need of emergency utility assistance.
