ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WJBK) - The estranged wife of a Rochester Hills man facing felony charges for hacking into her e-mail is speaking out to FOX 2 and refuting claims that she allowed her husband access to the account.
Leon Walker, 33, claims he used his wife Clara's password to to get into her Gmail account where he learned the details of an affair. He faces a maximum of five years in prison.
"We've never shared passwords," Clara told FOX 2's Andrea Isom. "He's a very intelligent man and he knew what he was doing." (Click the video player to hear her full reaction)
Clara, who claims their marriage was on the rocks from the very beginning, filed for a divorce, which was granted in December.
According to Clara's attorney, the couple led separate lives that included separate bank accounts, credit cards and even bedrooms. "Clara had already filed for divorce and he was digging for dirt that he could use in court," said Attorney Michael McCulloch.
Leon told The Oakland Press in December he was trying to protect the couple's children from neglect and calls the case a "miscarriage of justice."
The plot thickened for Leon on Wednesday after a motion was filed by Oakland County prosecutors claims he he tried to hack into county's Court and Law Enforcement Management System (CLEMIS) in April.
Leon declined numerous interview requests with FOX 2.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Walker has a fund-raiser planned to help with his defense on Sunday, Jan. 23 at the Shark Club in Waterford.
