Language Approved for Recall Petition to Oust Bing

DETROIT (AP) - Petition language seeking to recall Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has been approved.

The Detroit News reports Friday that the Wayne County Election Commission has given Cheryl Guines the OK to gather the 57,000 signatures needed to force a recall election.

Guines is part of Hood Research, a group opposing Bing and the Detroit City Council on a proposal to change how the Detroit Public Schools is run.

Elections officials dismissed petitions against Council President Charles Pugh and Councilwoman Saunteel Jenkins for a "lack of clarity" and because Pugh's name was misspelled.
