ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Thousands of students ignored darkness and cold weather to get tickets to President Barack Obama's speech Friday at the University of Michigan.
Obama was scheduled to arrive in the Detroit area on Thursday night. He's on a tour of politically crucial states in a post-State of the Union journey to sell his 2012 economic policy goals.
The tour wraps up Friday morning in Ann Arbor, where he'll push education and training proposals during a speech. Students lined up overnight to get tickets.
This is Obama's second appearance at the university as president. He was the May 2010 commencement speaker.
