Chuck Moss
Republican
State Representative
Oakland County
40th District
Why are you running for office?
I’d like to continue to use my experience in Lansing and local government to address Michigan’s problems.
What is the biggest problem facing Michigan residents today and how would you solve it?
WE NEED JOBS. Best way to get jobs is make it easier for folks to make money and do business, so they’ll hire more folks to help them, and pay them more when their profits go up. Business groups have told us what they need: get rid of the MBT/Surcharge. Reform the tax code to make it simpler and a net cut. Reform the government red tape “overhead” that makes Michigan uncompetitive with other states.
What's a better solution: finding revenue or cutting costs to meet Michigan's public education budget? How would you do it?
Cut costs: Best way is to cut overhead for K-12 education delivery systems. Consolidation of Districts, competitive bidding for services, and restoring labor costs to sustainable levels will get more money to the kids.
What's the best way to create jobs for Michigan residents?
See Above.
After you leave this earth, what will they say about you?
I hope they’ll say: “he won the Nobel Prize on his 100th Birthday.” But they’ll probably say: “at least his dogs loved him.”
