Why are you running for office?

We can do better. Like most residents in Michigan, I am tired of the partisan fighting. We need someone who will put that aside and work to get the job done.
I have 20 years of Legislative experience and a record of working with Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike. I want a Michigan where you do not have to get on a plane to see your grandchildren because your son or daughter had to leave Michigan for a job.

What is the biggest problem facing Michigan residents today and how would you solve it?

Creating Jobs so that families can stay together; Growing Michigan’s Economy; Eliminating excessive Taxes; and providing a quality Education for all children. We need public policy that will encourage growth and control the cost of government.
In order to move Michigan forward we must form partnerships with our business community to encourage job creation that will advance Michigan’s economy. Government’s job is about the quality of life for our residents and that does not include over regulating or miss-managing our resources.

What's a better solution: finding revenue or cutting costs to meet Michigan's public education budget? How would you do it?

We have to get real and live within our means in government. Cutting the cost of doing business in our schools without impacting the quality of the education we provide is the answer. Competitive bidding on all construction and contracts is a great start.

What's the best way to create jobs for Michigan residents?

#1 is lowering the tax burden on business. The cost of doing business in Michigan is what has closed many businesses and caused many to leave. Secondly we need to work with our job providers as well as our educators. We need to provide our students the tools to succeed in today's job market.
Finally, we have to stop over regulating every. I believe that most business people want to do what is right. The problem is that the rules keep changing; therefore we make it near impossible at times to comply. Give business a fair amount of time to comply, and include them in the process.

After you leave this earth, what will they say about you?

I hope they will say that in some small way I made a difference.
