A bright spot for people who've lost their jobs -- a chance to lose weight. The Medical Weight Loss Clinic, which has several offices around metro Detroit, is now offering free help.
Kenyetta Henderson is ready to lose some weight. Since losing her job a year ago, she's been hitting the gym and trying to eat right, but she says she needs some help.
"I thought, 'I'll try this and see how this works, and if it works, I'll stick to it,'" said Henderson.
Now, she's part of the program at Medical Weight Loss Clinic. They're offering 30 pounds of weight loss free to 850 people who are unemployed.
"I heard it on FOX 2. So, I called. So, I'm here," Henderson said.
"We have had men, women. We have had teenagers who are unemployed, young adults," said Alberta Lipinski, who is a nursing supervisor at Medical Weight Loss Clinic.
Lipinski says people are calling non-stop to get in on the offer to lose weight and get healthy in the process.
"It's tough to find jobs, and we're hoping that if we put people in the right frame of mind about themselves, about how they look, that it will help them get a job," Lipinski said.
There are still spots available at the offices in Birmingham, Farmington Hills and Romeo. For more information, call 1-800-GET-SLIM.
