(NewsCore) - The surviving members of iconic California surfing band The Beach Boys will reunite for their first public performance in more than two decades on Sunday at the 54th Grammy Awards.
Event organizers, the Recording Academy, announced Wednesday that Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks would reunite and join Grammy nominees Foster The People and Maroon 5 for a performance during the show.
Other performers at the event -- to be hosted at Los Angeles Staples Center by actor and musician LL Cool J and broadcast on CBS -- include Adele, Glen Campbell and Bruce Springsteen.
Show producers had hoped to announce the performance in November when the nominees where announced, the Los Angeles Times reported, but details had not been finalized at the time.
The band, formed in California in 1961, originally featured Brian Wilson's two brothers -- drummer Dennis Wilson and singer-guitarist Carl Wilson -- who died in 1983 and 1998, respectively.
The Beach Boys burst onto the pop music scene in the early 1960s with hits like "Good Vibrations" and "Surfin' USA," AFP reported.
The group's hit albums include the seminal 1966 work "Pet Sounds," and chart-topping songs include "Wouldn't it be Nice?" "Barbara Ann," and "California Girls."
