New 'Ferris Bueller' Super Bowl Ad

(EndPlay Staff Reports) - After reaching over 4.6 million views on YouTube since last week, it was finally revealed that the 10 second teaser clip of Matthew Broderick embodying his beloved Ferris Bueller character is for a Honda CR-V commercial, after all – not a "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" sequel like so many had hoped.

Jalopnik first speculated that the teaser was an indication for an expanded commercial for the Super Bowl, when at the end of the clip the date 2.5.12 flashes on the screen. Well, they were correct.

Although fans may be disappointed, they will appreciate that there are many scenes in the commercial that mirror the original 1986 John Hughe's classic.

Like the movie, the commercial begins with Broderick in bed, but this time calling in sick to work, not school.

After uttering the infamous line, "How can I handle work on a day like today? (changing the word "school" to "work" in this case), Broderick calls the concierge of his hotel to get his CR-V ready.

Perhaps one of the most memorable scenes in the 1986 film is when actor Ben Stine, playing Bueller's teacher, takes attendance and repeated calls out Bueller's name in his signature monotone voice.

The commercial changes the scene to have the valet monotonously calling Broderick's name to come get his keys.

After getting in his 2012 CR-V, Broderick can be seen gallivanting around town attending a horse race, riding a roller coaster at an amusement park, singing in a parade and having some fun at a museum.

Honda hired Todd Phillips to put the commercial together, Jalopnik reported. Phillips was the writer and director of "The Hangover."

Now that the full commercial has been released, feedback has been positive; although, most agree that it's kind of hard to compare a Honda to a Ferrari.
