(EndPlay Staff Reports) - It's not too late to adjust your New Year's resolutions, especially if you did not include getting fit.

If you started and have already quit, pick yourself up and get back at it. Try a different type of exercise or find some friends to encourage you to keep going.

If getting or staying fit isn't on your priority list, it should be.

"Develop a basic maintenance plan that you can stick with, then turn up the heat if you have something special, like a ski trip, that you want to get ready for," Jeff Bullock, a multisport athlete, personal trainer and gym owner, told the Tampa Bay Times . "That way you'll be ready for anything."

There are many online resources to help you, regardless of whether you are new to working out or a seasoned pro.

One of the most helpful websites is Shapefit.com . On this website you can find exercise examples, nutrition information videos and more. The site includes specific exercises with photos, number of reps and amount of time, and more.

Another helpful website is Shape.com . There are numerous tools on this site, from how to design your own gym at home, to health trends to watch for in 2012.

The Tampa Bay Times provided these tips to help you get active:

  • Exercising should become a routine, like bathing and brushing your teeth.
  • Make building strong abdominal "core" muscles a priority. This will boost support for your spine and help prevent chronic back pain.
  • Running and walking are always important, and you can start your routine by alternating between the two. Smartphone apps such as Couch to 5K can help you build up.
  • Building up leg strength will help you in sports and other activities. Deadlifts and squats are among the most functional.
  • For upper body strength, it's hard to beat the push-up and pull-up.
