Whitney Houston TV Tributes to Flood the Airwaves

(NewsCore) - LOS ANGELES -- A slew of TV tributes for Whitney Houston were announced Monday, as remembrances for the late singer continued to pour in from shocked celebs.

Houston was found dead in a bathtub Saturday at the Beverly Hilton from an expected drug overdose and was remembered by music stars with heavy hearts at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

As Houston's family prepares for her funeral, expected to be held in Newark, N.J., at the end of the week, various networks have announced televised tributes as part of their line-up.

VH1 announced a news special that will analyze the details of Houston's death, to air Monday at 9:30pm ET.

The music channel also said Houston will receive a special acknowledgement as part of their previously scheduled "100 Greatest Women In Music," in addition to a "Whitney Houston's Greatest Moments" special to air Friday night.

Lifetime cable network revealed it would broadcast a special presentation Monday night of "The Bodyguard," the 1992 movie co-starring Kevin Costner and Houston.

By pure coincidence, Tuesday's episode of "Glee" will feature actress Amber Riley belting out "I Will Always Love You," the Dolly Parton tune that Houston famously sang in "The Bodyguard," the show's rep told NewsCore.

Riley's jazzy rendition was recorded before Houston's untimely death and inspired the show's producers to dedicate the Valentine's Day episode to the late diva, with a tribute message appearing at the end of the credits.

Ryan Seacrest hinted Sunday that "American Idol" producers were scrambling to incorporate a tribute to Houston into the show this week, though a rep for the reality program did not respond to a request for comment.

"Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe also revealed on Twitter that just last week he had corresponded with Houston about her coming on the music competition to serve as a mentor.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network said it would air a two hour special "Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview" on Thursday, including footage of Oprah's 2009 interview of Houston when the diva spoke in depth about her struggle with substance abuse and her tempestuous marriage to Bobby Brown.

"To me Whitney was THE VOICE," the talk show mogul tweeted after Houston's death, adding, "We got to hear a part of God every time she sang. Heart is heavy, spirit grateful for the GIFT of her."
