Two-Headed Baby Born in Brazil

BALEM. Brazil - A Brazilian woman has given birth to healthy conjoined twins, forcing doctors to make a tough decision about the future of the newborns.

The 10-pound twins, Jesus and Emanuel, were born by C-section on Monday in a small rural hospital and were rushed by plane to a better-equipped facility.

The boys suffer from a rare condition in which one twin fails to fully develop in the womb. They share a heart but have two spines and two separate brains.

The children remain in stable condition as surgeons decide whether to operate.

The brothers' doctor, Neila Dahas, said separating the twins will be impossible because there is only one set of organs.

Dahas said surgery would mean removing one of the heads and that choosing which one to sever is particularly difficult because both brains are functioning well.
