(NewsCore) - Philadelphia 76ers guard Lou Williams said he persuaded an armed attacker not to rob him on Christmas Eve before rewarding him with some fast food, the Philadelphia Daily News reported Tuesday.

Williams said his reputation saved him when the gunman approached his stopped car in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Manayunk.

The shooter knocked on his window while brandishing his weapon but withdrew his threat as soon as he realized who was behind the wheel.

Williams said the robber revealed he was a fan of the Sixers' sixth man, but largely for his work off the court.

"[He] decided not to because of whatever I do in the community," Williams said while recounting the incident before Monday night's defeat in Portland. "He's a Lou Williams fan so he didn't rob me."

Williams added, "There's crime everywhere. I was debating whether to pull off or help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking and we came up with a solution before I could really say much. I treated him to McDonald's."
