(NewsCore) - A passenger plane made a successful emergency landing Tuesday morning in Belfast.

The Thomas Cook-operated Airbus A-320, en route to the Spanish resort island of Tenerife, had reported problems with its landing gear.

It departed the Northern Irish capital shortly before 10:00am local time but soon began circling the nearby area in a bid to dump fuel.

Radar showed the aircraft flying in a repeated pattern over Lough Neagh.

A full emergency plan was put in effect, as is standard practice, with nine fire engines on the scene at Belfast International Airport.
