PERINTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a distraught New York woman sent her husband on an errand and then fatally shot her 10-year-old daughter, 79-year-old father and herself in their suburban Rochester home.

Authorities in Monroe County say 53-year-old Penelope Luddy had been emotionally disturbed in recent weeks but declined to say why.

The sheriff says 57-year-old Michael Luddy returned from visiting a sick relative Wednesday morning to find his wife dead and daughter Alexandra and father-in-law Harold Bertram wounded.

The girl and the man were shot at least twice with a 12-gauge shotgun. They were found in the finished basement of the home in Perinton.

The sheriff says Luddy had left the house shortly before his wife would have taken their fifth-grader to school.
