Dark hair, pale skin and deep-red lips aren't just for vampire shows this season. The popularity of movies like Twilight stretched to Fall 2010 Fashion Week and beyond. Models from New York to Milan were seen wearing shades of dark lipstick with pale faces on the catwalks: Peter Som models had a dark-purple lip; Proenza Schouler put the models in burgundy; and Missoni chose the deepest color of them all with an almost black lipstick.
Such celebrities as Megan Fox are leading the trend by going vamp in real life. Fox's shiny black hair and bright-green eyes are a striking contrast to the vampire makeup.
Take the look from runway to real life by following these tips:
Red and other dramatically dark lipsticks have a tendency to bleed, no pun intended. Keep lipstick in place by using a matching lip liner first, then apply a generous coat of lipstick and blot with a tissue.
Give your bronzer and blush a vacation and keep your complexion fair by using your favorite matte face powder.
Finish with a few generous swipes of volumizing mascara.
Vampire makeup can work for the daytime if you moderate the contrast between your face powder and lipstick. Wear a lighter layer of powder and a sheerer coat of lipstick.
After dark, add more powder and a deeper lipstick, or just a thicker coat of your favorite color, for a more dramatic vampire effect.
