CHICAGO (AP) - Jose Quintana allowed two runs over seven innings to earn his first win in more than a month as the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 6-2 yesterday. The White Sox took advantage of a season-high four errors by the Tigers to salvage a four-game split. Adam Eaton doubled twice and scored two runs.

CHICAGO (AP) - The Detroit Tigers withheld slugger Miguel Cabrera from the lineup for yesterday's game against the Chicago White Sox because of a sore right ankle. Manager Brad Ausmus says he's day to day. Cabrera left in the fourth inning of the second game of Saturday's day-night doubleheader after struggling to run out a grounder.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Lions have signed 10 players to their practice squad. The players added to the practice squad were Rodney Austin, Emil Igwenagu, Nate Ness, Andrew Peacock, Xavier Proctor, Mohammed Seisay, Julian Stanford, Jordan Thompson, Michael Williams and George Winn.

(AP) - Oregon easily got past South Dakota to open the season but now face a real challenge in Michigan State. The No. 3 Ducks host the No. 8 Spartans on Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium. The defending Big Ten-champion Spartans dispatched visiting Jacksonville State 45-7 in their opener on Friday night.
