COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Sergei Bobrovsky had 39 saves to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets past the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 last night. Rookie Boone Jenner and veteran Brandon Dubinsky scored 40 seconds apart in the third period. Nick Foligno and Derek MacKenzie also had goals while Nathan Horton had two assists for the Blue Jackets. Columbus has won five of six.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Josh Smith scored 24 points to lift the Detroit Pistons to a 99-89 victory over the Sacramento Kings last night. Andre Drummond added 15 points and eight rebounds for Detroit. Detroit trailed 54-52 at halftime but outscored the Kings 20-11 in the third quarter. The Pistons snapped a three-game losing streak.
(AP) - A person familiar with the situation says the Detroit Lions will have a chance to make a pitch to free agent Golden Tate in person. The Lions are looking for someone to complement wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Tate led the Seattle Seahawks with 64 catches and 898 yards receiving last season.
SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) - Police have found the body of 20-year-old Saginaw Spirit player Terry Trafford. The minor league hockey player disappeared eight days earlier after receiving discipline from the club. General Manager Craig Goslin says the team disciplined Trafford for breaking team rules.
