Lisa Rayam joined FOX 5 Atlanta in 1994 and anchors FOX 5 News at Noon and FOX 5 News at 6 p.m.
Prior to her arrival at FOX 5, Lisa held several anchoring and reporting positions. In Florida, she worked at WESH-TV in Orlando and WINK-TV in Ft. Myers. Back in her native Arizona, she worked at KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff and KOOL-FM in Phoenix.
Lisa has won several awards for excellence in spot news reporting. The Emmy award winner anchored the 2013 shooting at Ronald McNair Learning Academy in DeKalb County detailing for viewers the dramatic events as they unfolded on live television. Lisa also navigated viewers through the first six hours of FOX 5 Atlanta's Olympic bombing coverage during the Centennial games and the tense hours following the abortion clinic bombing in Birmingham.
Lisa is the member of several professional and service organizations including the National Association of Black Journalists, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Jack & Jill of America, Inc. In 2013, Lisa was named one of the top 25 women of Atlanta by Rolling Out Magazine. She was also recognized for her broadcasting contributions at the annual Trumpet Awards High Tea in 2012 and received an image award from 100 Black Men of North Metro Atlanta in 2009.
In her free time, Lisa loves working with children. She spends a great deal of time visiting area schools encouraging students to be the best they can be. Lisa has a particular interest in at-risk students and took part in weekly rap session with at-risk young ladies at Crawford Long Middle School.
A staunch supporter of Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Lisa has co-hosted the annual Steak and Steak Dinner for several years. Lisa has served as an honorary board member of the James Jordan Scholarship Foundation. It awards 10 high school scholarships annually. Lisa is also a strong supporter of Dress for Success, Hope House and My Sister's House of Atlanta.
In addition to community service, Lisa enjoys singing. She performed the National Anthem for the Atlanta Falcons, and takes part in the annual fundraiser "Anchored in the Lord," which features some of Atlanta's news anchors. In May 2003, Lisa released and inspirational CD entitled "Just As I Am." In 2004, she was voted Best New Artist at the Atlanta Gospel Choice awards. Lisa is also an inspirational speaker who travels the states, addressing various church and civic groups.
Lisa graduated with a B.A. from Arizona State University.
