There is still no word on the future of a school reform bill in Springfield.
The bill sailed thru the Illinois Senate on a unanimous vote last month. But now it's in the House and teachers unions object to it .
They originally supported the bill, in its entirety.
Among other things, the bill would make it easier for Chicago to lengthen its school day and school year. It would also make it tougher for Chicago teachers to go on strike.
School reform is the topic of David Houle's newest book, “Shift Ed: A Call to Action for Transforming K-12 Education.” He joined FOX Chicago to talk about changing education.
Houle is a futurist. He studies cultural and technological trends and advises people about their effects.
Houle helped media companies start t-v channels. His last book was very “big picture,” about the dynamics and forces shaping society. His next book will be about the future of health care.
