CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
This week's Most Wanted is a man by the name of Jesus Maria Carreno-Lechuga.
Carreno-Lechuga is charged with conspiracy to sell and distribute a controlled substance, in this case cocaine. He was one of 20 Chicago defendants charged last November in this investigation, known as Operation Gas Leak.
Most of the suspects were arrested when the indictments were unsealed last November, but Carreno-Lechuga is one of a handful who remain at large.
A Mexican drug cartel known as the Zetas is accused of smuggling more than 500 pounds of cocaine and heroin from Mexico, coming in to the U.S. through Laredo Texas and on to the Chicago area.
As part of the investigation FBI and DEA agents seized more than 12-million dollars in cash that was being shipped back to Mexico. All of that money was believed to have been generated by drug sales.
It's possible Carreno-Lechuga fled the country in an effort to avoid facing the charges against him. He also might be in Texas were the Zetas cartel has connections.
But Carreno-Lechuga is from the Chicago area, his last known address was in Berwyn, and so it's quite possible he could be hiding out somewhere around here. The FBI is asking for help from Fox Chicago News viewers to track him down.
Here is the FBI's description of Carreno-Lechuga:
Hispanic male.
39 years old.
6' 2'' about 190 pounds.
Black hair and brown eyes.
Scar on his right forearm.
Goes by the nickname Chuy (prounounced "Chewy").
He is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him call police.
