Atlanta Weather Forecast - Friday

We saw the return of rain and humidity to the forecast yesterday, and that will continue today and through the weekend.  Friday is shaping up to be a gloomy day, with an easterly flow allowing moist air to settle in over the southeast.  This means cloudy skies and a chance for showers through the day.  Rainfall amounts won't be huge Friday, but there could be a heavy downpour or two.  Because of the cloudy cover, high temperatures will be limited to the low 80s.
No big changes for Saturday and Sunday -- disturbances will pass through the region, kicking off rounds of showers and thundershowers.  Saturday will likely be another gloomy day, with a good chance for rain and cloudy skies.  Again, temperatures will be limited to the lower 80s due to the extra cloud cover.  The highest rainfall amounts will likely be in the Northeast Georgia Mountains, where are few counties are already under a Flash Flood Watch.

We'll still look for scattered showers/storms on Monday and Tuesday -- but these will be more of the typical afternoon variety.  Temperatures will climb back to the middle/upper 80s, with near-90 degree highs on Wednesday and Thursday.  The chance of showers really drops toward the end of the week, but it will still be quite humid.

We officially have our second named storm of the Atlanta hurricane season -- as of 2am, Tropical Storm Bertha is 215 miles east of Barbados, with maximum winds of 45 miles per hour.  A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbados, St. Lucia, and Dominica.  Current models keep Bertha at tropical storm status into early next week, and have the storm hooking out to the east before making landfall in the United States.  Of course, we'll be monitoring this over the next several days.
