Parents of Bianca Jones Speak Out on Daughter's Disappearance

Posted:

The mother of missing Detroit toddler Bianca Jones says she doesn't believe the girl's father has anything to do with her daughter's disappearance.

Banika Jones, along with D'Andre Lane, spoke with FOX 2 legal analyst and 1270 AM radio host Charlie Langton Friday morning about the police investigation surrounding the case and allegations that Lane abused 2-year-old Bianca.

"I would not give my daughter to someone I thought would hurt her," said Jones. "I don't think (D'Andre) was anyway involved with her disappearance."

Bianca was last seen with Lane on Dec. 2 She was in the backseat of his car when he says he was carjacked on the city's east side. Police found the car a short time alter, but Bianca was gone and hasn't been seen since.

"I did not have anything to do with my daughter's disappearance," said Lane. "We feel in our hearts, she is safe. We just dont' know where she is right now."

Both parents say they believe their daughter's abduction was random and she wasn't taken because of anything they did or anyone they know.

The two sat close during the interview, at times even holding hands.

Meanwhile, prosecutors still are deciding whether to file charges. Wayne County prosecutor's spokeswoman Maria Miller issued a statement Tuesday saying the case is "very labor-intensive and complex." She says Prosecutor Kym Worthy will hold a news conference when it's appropriate.

"I'm not concerned with persecution or prosecution," said Jones. "I just want Bianca home, and i want her home safely."
