Fox 2's Charlie Langton had a few moments to discuss issues pertaining to the Detroit Public Schools with its new emergency financial manager, Roy Roberts earlier at the Mackinac Policy Conference.
Roberts confidently speaks about the upcoming school year's preliminary budget, which is currently awaiting approval from the state. When that budget is approved, Roberts will be able to determine how many teachers will be needed for the next academic year as well as what projects can be done in the schools themselves.
Not avoiding reality that only 16% of DPS graduates are prepared for college level courses, Roberts discusses that he and Governor Rick Snyder are working together to "fix kindergarten through college."
Roberts took over as Detroit Public School's emergency financial manager on May 5.
