Warren Mayor Jim Fouts is fuming after learning the White House stopped GM from moving its headquarters to his city. That information is in the soon to be published memoir by former car czar Steven Rattner.
Rattner claims GM executives wanted to move their headquarters from the Renaissance Center to the Warren Tech Center to save millions of dollars. However, several Obama administration officials nixed the idea, saying the move would devastate Detroit economically.
That revelation outraged Fouts, who immediately fired off a letter to the White House in protest.
"I'm disappointed in President Obama because President Obama, I've always thought, is a strong believe in transparency and open government. In this case, it was really a back room pressure deal that prevented General Motors from coming to Warren. They wanted to come to Warren," said Fouts.
