Chicago's Most Wanted: Arnoldo Jimenez

Posted: Updated:

The FBI is turning up the heat in the search for Arnoldo Jimenez, who is accused of murdering his newlywed wife.

The FBI is working with Burbank Police to solve this case.

Investigators with the FBI and Burbank police have received more than 450 tips since Estrella Carrera was found murdered May 12th, just hours after her wedding ceremony ended. FBI agents say they believe Arnoldo Jimenez has fled the area and may be hiding out in the area around Durango, Mexico.

The couple got married at city hall in Chicago on Friday May 11th and things were apparently fine in the hours that followed. But then something went wrong.

The FBI says the couple had dinner with friends that night and then rented a party limousine. They were last seen around 4 am Saturday. Carrera was found Sunday dead in her bathtub on Sunday still wearing the cocktail dress she got married in.

Agents say they spoke with relatives who said Jimenez told his sister that he and Carrera had gotten into a bad fight that night and that he had left her bleeding. They say he also indicated that if police asked where he was, she was to say he had gone to Mexico.

There is a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Jimenez.

He was tracked, in the days after the wedding, through southern Illinois, Memphis and down to Houston, Texas. Agents believe from there he crossed the border into Mexico, which is where his parents live.

But, he still owns property in Texas and has relatives in North Carolina. He also has connections in the Chicago area, so the FBI hopes someone knows where he is currently hiding out and calls them.

Here is the FBI's description of Arnoldo Jimenez.

  • He is Hispanic.
  • He's 30 years old.
  • He's six feet tall, and weighs about 220 pounds.
  • He has been known to use the alias Arnoldo Jimenez Rochel.
  • He was last seen driving a black 2006 Maserati.
  • He is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him call police.
