A Detroit father charged with murder and child abuse following the disappearance of his 2-year-old daughter has been ordered to stand trial in Wayne County Circuit Court.
A judge has set a trial date of September 18 for D'Andre Lane who claims his 2-year-old daughter Bianca Jones was taken during a carjacking.
Lane's vehicle was found on December 2, but no trace of the child has been found. Lane is accused of beating Bianca to death and then disposing her body. The 32-year-old is currently being held without bond.
According to the Associated Press Defense attorney Terry Johnson is quoted as saying prosecutors have no evidence against Lane and their "case is based on the argument that he spanked her."
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
