Containers of cereal (Credit: WJBK | myFOXDetroit.com)For too many metro Detroit children, the meals eaten at school are the only ones they can count on. During summer recess, the risk of malnutrition goes up substantially for hundreds of thousands of kids.
That's where you can help.
The Michigan Profession Nurse Council at Children's Hospital of Michigan along with Gleaners Food Bank are holding their third annual cereal drive.
This year, the hospital is competing with children's hospitals in nine other states to collect the most cereal.
You can drop off boxes of cereal at Children's Hospital of Michigan or one of their specialty centers across metro Detroit between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. every day through Friday.
Gleaners will distribute the donations to area families through its summer meal programs.
