BOSTON (NewsCore) -

Mitt Romney is taking his presidential campaign on the road this Friday, when he kicks off a five-day bus tour of small towns in six states expected to be key battlegrounds in the general election.

"For three and a half years, President [Barack] Obama has paid little attention to the everyday concerns of the American people," Romney said in a statement released by the campaign, before going on to accuse the president of leaving "American families to bear the burden of his failed policies."

"In America's small towns, you don't find despair -- you find boundless optimism," Romney said. "We know we can make America better, and that is why I am running for president."

The "Believe in America: Every Town Counts" bus tour begins in New Hampshire on Friday, continues to Pennsylvania on Saturday and Ohio on Sunday. Next week, he will stop in Wisconsin and Iowa on Monday and his home state of Michigan on Tuesday.

The campaign said more details about the tour will be announced in the coming days.
