Q. I've chosen a strapless gown for my wedding, but now I need help hiding a tattoo on my right shoulder! What can I do?

A. Maybe you were rebelling against your parents or did it one drunken night back in college. Or perhaps you simply love the art form and just couldn't help turning yourself into a living canvas.

Whatever the reason, no matter how proud you are of your elaborate tattoo -- and the pain you endured to get it -- you may decide that you don't want to show it off during your wedding ceremony (even if the design features your groom's name in an elaborate heart).

So what's a branded girl to do? Simple: Invest in concealer.

Find a thick, yellow-based medical concealer (companies such as Covermark and Dermablend make heavy coverage makeup used for covering scars). Ideally, you should purchase this makeup product in three different tones: The first should be a perfect match for your skin tone; the second should be one tone lighter; the third, two tones lighter.

Apply your concealer from the lightest shade to the darkest: Using a concealer brush, begin by applying the lightest makeup shade over the tattoo to form a base. The trick is to keep the makeup on the tattoo -- don't spread it on the surrounding skin. Both a stiff brush and a fairly thick concealer will help here.

Next, layer on the middle shade and blend it in. Then gently blend the makeup closest to your skin tone over the top and, using a puff, set with matching powder. Voila! You're tattoo-free -- and picture perfect.
