Tigers place Smyly on DL, call up Raburn

The Detroit Tigers have placed pitcher Drew Smyly on the disabled list due to a severe blister on his left middle finger, according to team officials.

Ryan Raburn has been called up from AAA Toledo to fill the roster spot and will start at second base Thursday afternoon against the Chicago Cubs.

Smyly suffered the blister during his start against the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend. Manager Jim Leyland has said, "it's the worst one I've ever seen in my life."

Smyly is 2-2 on the season with a 3.96 ERA.
