DETROIT (WJBK) -

A Dearborn man was sentenced to 23-45 years in prison after the fatal shooting of another man following a fight during a pickup basketball game.

Fadi Hassan Faraj was sentenced Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month.

Faraj originally was charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 23-year-old Hassan Mustapha Zeidan of Dearborn.

Prior to sentencing, Zeidan's mother pleaded for the stiffest sentence and verbally berated Faraj. "This guy wanted to prove that he's Mr. Macho Man. He is the king of carrying a gun and shooting people for no reason." Click the video player to hear more from Zeidan's mother.

The men were playing basketball last July in a Dearborn parking lot. Zeidan was shot multiple times with a gun retrieved from a parked car.
