SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -
Starting on Sunday, synthetic marijuana and bath salts will be banned across Michigan. Crime Stoppers is asking the public to report anyone who is caught trying to sell the drugs.
The narcotics have been linked to crime, hospitalizations and even death. Tips to Crime Stoppers are always anonymous. The number is 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
"This is something that requires all of us to work together because there is still access to purchase these products on the Internet, and if it's banned in the State of Michigan and somewhere else it might be not banned," said Wayne County Chief of Health Operations Dr. Mouhanad Hammami.
Where can residents of Wayne and Monroe counties turn for help with substance abuse problems related to synthetic marijuana?
People living in Detroit can call the city's Bureau of Substance Abuse at 1-800-467-2452.
People living outside of Detroit in either Wayne or Monroe counties can call the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) at 1-800-686-6543.
In case of emergency, go to the nearest emergency room.
