About 50,000 DTE Energy customers remain in the dark throughout metro Detroit. 22,000 are in Oakland County and another 15,000 are in Wayne County. The rest are scattered around the area.

DTE Energy says about 105,000 of its customers are still in the dark Friday morning as crews work 16-hour shifts to restore electricity. Today's forecast calls for high to reach 101 degrees.

Wayne County Sheriffs were out in full force Thursday, keeping neighborhoods safe and helping citizens on Detroit's west side deal with massive power losses.
