(WJBK) -

An online report says Tigers ace Justin Verlander will start for the American League in Tuesday night's All-Star game.

FOXSports.com reports AL manager Ron Washington will make the decision official later today.

This would be the first time Verlander, a five-time All-Star, has started for the AL team. He would have probably started in last year's game, but he wasn't eligible because he threw for the Tigers on the final Sunday before the All-Star break.

Verlander is 9-5 on the season with a 2.58 ERA and a league-leading five complete games.

The All-Star can be seen on FOX Tuesday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.
