Mobile gym helps senior pro golfers stay in shape

LAKE ORION, Mich. (WJBK) -

The U.S. Senior Open is in full swing this weekend at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion.  Tucked in between the greens and the clubhouse is a state of the art, mobile workout facility.

Athletic trainer Kent Biggerstaff said he and this gym on wheels actually follow the professional golfers around from tournament to tournament.

"We cover 26 events a year," he told Fox 2's Deena Centofanti.

When it comes to these pros' success on the golf course, how important is it for them to work out with him?

"It's vital for them to be able to get the best out of their ability, to warm up properly and keep themselves conditioned for the long haul of playing week in and week out," said Biggerstaff.

Does he see a correlation between the golfers that visit him and their performance on the course?

"If you take a look at the top 30 money list, you'll probably find most of them come in here on a regular basis," Biggerstaff said.  "It's not coincidental."

Watch Deena's video report for some examples of exercises Biggerstaff has the pro golfers do to help them maintain their balance.
