Body parts found along Detroit River

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Two bodies are discovered in Detroit. Their extremeties were apparently tossed into the Detroit River, only to be found by fisherman.

Fisherman Hollis Fussell was ready to cast his line around 8:45 Tuesday morning when he looked at the water and saw body parts down below.

Fussell noticed Fox 2's Al Allen in the park nearby and alerted him. Allen was in the area covering the story of two torsos found floating in two separate canals earlier Tuesday morning.

The fishermen found arms and legs as well as a suitcase, a sheet and a yellow circular saw. The heads were recovered a little farther down along the sea wall.

The Detroit Dive Team spent much of the day in the water, documenting the locations and recovering the extremities. The victims were a man and a woman. The woman has a distinctive tattoo that goes around her left breast.

Police are now hoping someone who knows of two missing people will come forward so officers can identify the bodies and move forward with their investigation.
