ALLEN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -
Harsh words were hurled at 39-year-old Roger Bowling as he left court Monday. He is accused of shooting and dismembering 32-year-old Danielle or Dee Dee Greenway and her fiancé, 42-year-old Chris Hall, then dumping their remains in the Detroit River.
Fishermen found the torsos, then the rest of the body parts and a bed sheet and a circular saw last week.
Police say Bowling killed them at their Allen Park home.
"Copious amounts of blood were located within the home," Allen Park Detective Sergeant Jonathan Mathis said in court. "Evidence of gunfire within a home was also noted."
Relatives say Bowling and Greenway dated a long time ago. She and Hall allowed him to move in to their home on Ann Street a few weeks ago after he lost his house. Friends of the victims said Bowling was very controlling of Greenway.
"Couldn't let go of her. He couldn't let go of her," family friend Carol Crowley remarked.
Hall's sister, Laura Robichaud, said her brother wanted Bowling out of the house.
"My brother after a little while was like, 'Okay, you got to go. I don't want him here.'"
Last week, loved ones started to worry when they couldn't get a hold of Hall or Greenway.
"His birthday is the 15th of July, and I texted him and told him I loved him and happy birthday and he didn't reply," Robichaud explained. "That was kind of weird."
Then her sister went to the house, forced her way in and found Bowling inside.
"He was hiding in the house, and my sister pounded on the door and pushed it open and found him there," said Robichaud. "The guy was living in their house, and we kept asking the guy where are they. He says, 'I don't know. I haven't seen them since Saturday.'"
A sheet was missing from the couple's bed. The sink looked like it had been scrubbed. Robichaud's sister reported her brother missing. His body had already been found in the Detroit River. Now police knew who it was.
Robichaud said Hall and Greenway were engaged to be married. He was an electrician and served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf War. Greenway loved her dogs and fishing and had a big heart, just like her finance.
"She's just a wonderful person. Dee Dee and Chris, they were loving people," said Al Stone, a friend of the victims.
"He was a good kid. He was perfect. He was soft spoken, shy, quiet, served in the war, great guy," Robichaud told us.
Police say they are still conducting interviews and trying to determine an exact motive for this horrible crime.
In the meantime, Bowling was denied bond and will be back in court on August 6.
