Detroit suspends curbside collection of yard waste

DETROIT (WJBK) -

Beginning Monday, curbside waste will not be picked up in Detroit for at least two weeks.

Officials made the announcement as crews deal with an increased volume of waste picked up over the last month. Residents can still drop off yard waste at any of a number of drop off sites at no cost. They include:

  • Davison Yard - 8221 West Davison
  • Southfield Yard - 12255 Southfield Service Dr.
  • 5840 Anthon between Cavalry and Campbell
  • State Fair Yard - 19715 John R
  • J. Fons Transfer Station - 6451 E. McNichols

The drop-off locations are open Tuesday - Saturday from 10:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. (Closed from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.). The J. Fons Transfer Station is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Southfield Yard location is open Monday-Saturday.
