'American Idol' expanding audition opportunities

"American Idol" announced Monday additional ways hopefuls can audition for the upcoming season of the popular reality show.

The "American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour" will visit ten cities starting in August.  The closest stop to metro Detroit will be in Bowling Green, Kentucky on a yet to be determined date.

There will be online auditions from August 1 through August 14.   The "Nominate an Idol" program will also allow family or friends to secretly recommend someone for consideration.
