SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist M.L. Elrick is joining FOX 2 as the station's newest Problem Solver.

"We have a little bit more edge here," said Elrick during an interview on The Nine Friday. "We can go after things and we can bring a little more accountability."

Elrick, a longtime investigative reporter at the Detroit Free Press, will begin his work at the station on August 13. "For most people there's a question of legal or illegal, but I think we all know fundamentally what's right and wrong," said Elrick. "And when we see somebody doing something wrong, we're going to show people."

He and writing partner Jim Schaefer were honored with a Pulitzer Prize in 2009 for exposing corruption in the administration of disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

Elrick will lead FOX 2's coverage of Kilpatrick's federal trial this fall. He will also appear on Let It Rip segments at 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
