- Former Michigan Congressman Pete Hoekstra defeated Clark Durant and Randy Hekman in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. Hoekstra faces two-term Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow in the November general election. Hoekstra told supporters yesterday that his campaign will take what it's learned "and apply it to the next 13 weeks."

- U.S. Rep. Gary Peters has won the Democratic primary in Michigan's 14th District, defeating another member of Congress and three other candidates. Peters and U.S. Rep.
